Hope Solo DWTS Soccer Star Brings out Inner Athlete Dancing the Tango

Post on: 2011-11-02 By: admin

Hope Solo's journey on Dancing with the Starshas been filled with ups and downs. On Monday night's show, she struggled the dance routine but did give the viewing audience a glimpse into her toughness as an athlete.Set to Bon Jovi's "Livin' On A Prayer," she dancedthe tango with partner Maks Chmerkovskiy. Her overall performance was not great, at least according to the judgesand her partner.During rehearsal, Maks tells her she loses points from the judges for "being whack" and not selling her performances well enough. She counters that she isn't an actress. While aggressive, judge Len Goodman criticized Hope for being "too willowy in the body" for a proper tango.Just when you think that Solo is losing her edge as an athlete and falling prey to the dance, she finishes her performance with a bloody lip. She got so into her dancing that she actually bit her lip so hard it started bleeding. When one of the hosts tried to offer Solo a handkerchief to wipe her mouth and she said that she wasn't even aware that anything was wrong.Solo may not win the competition, based on reviews it is unlikely because she is too controlled and mechanical on the dance floor, but she will never let her inner athlete go no matter where she is.In fact, one of the things she has been criticized for is being too tough and not sexy enough as a dancer. That is good news for fans who might have been worried that she would pursue other interests outside soccer.Sure, this was just a minor injury, and a self-inflicted one to boot, but it was still a cool sight to see as Solo was so casual about wiping the blood from her lip. Now, if she can just get the viewing audience to support her enough to vote for her, she will be all set.
